My work is an exploration of the body through figure drawings and automatic mark making systems using a variety of dry and wet media including charcoal, graphite, watercolors, ink, and paper itself. It is an expression of time, a product of compulsive behavior, as well as a reaction to physical and emotional stimuli derived from personal experiences.

While working from a psychological perspective I create parallel bodies of work heavily influenced by nature in both macroscopic and microscopic forms. Narrative figure drawings augmented by distortion, obscurity, fragmentation, isolation, conjoined figures, and juxtaposition of the human body with flora and fauna encapsulate wild and often heavy emotions. By contrast, the work purely based on abstract mark making systems evokes biological structures and arrangements by copiously mimicking organic shapes, nuanced patterns, and subtle textures made manifest as obsessive behavior.

Both bodies of work speak of the mind and body as a whole. While distinct they intertwine, telling a story of emotional struggle in a journey of self - discovery. They are a source of catharsis in a search for solace.
